Invite honest feedback and reviews

Use invitations for genuine customer experiences. Invite customers consistently, whether their experience was positive, neutral, or negative.

Feedback invitations

Add the customer's email address to a job, assign a survey, and choose when to send the invitation. Check spelling and permission to contact the recipient before sending. The customer can submit honest private feedback without being asked to change their opinion.

The confirmation thanks the customer for sharing feedback. Public review invitations must not depend on whether that feedback is favorable.

The waiting period

The general waiting period is configured in settings, from 1 to 7 days, with 7 days as the default. Choose an objective policy for your business before sending invitations. The policy is captured with the original invitation and applies equally to all ratings.

Use the waiting period to address customer issues. Do not extend an individual customer's delay, require satisfaction, or withhold an invitation because of criticism. Resolving an issue does not create an obligation to change a review.

Public review invitations

After the waiting period, eligible customers receive a neutral invitation to share their own experience. They can express either a positive or negative opinion. Never offer a reward for a review or suggest a rating the customer should choose.

Deleting, completing, or archiving a job does not cancel an invitation that has already been scheduled. Invitation delivery has its own lifecycle. Recipient objections, delivery suppression, account erasure, and other legitimate exceptions still apply.

Direct invitations

A pending job without a survey can receive a direct public review invitation by email. This path does not require private feedback first. Use the same objective eligibility rules for all customers.

Review destinations

Review platforms have different rules. A link configured in ReviewFlare does not establish that every invitation method is permitted by that platform.

  • Google: do not selectively solicit positive reviews, discourage negative reviews, or provide incentives. Use the business's supported review link.
  • Trustpilot: use its supported invitation methods and apply fair, neutral selection criteria. Verify that your Trustpilot account and invitation method permit the intended workflow.
  • Yelp: Yelp discourages asking customers for reviews. Do not use automated solicitation for Yelp.

You are responsible for checking the current rules of each destination and the legal basis for contacting customers. These guides are product instructions, not legal advice or certification.

Delivery status

Check the job and invitation status after sending. A provider acceptance does not guarantee inbox delivery. A rejected message can be retried; an uncertain provider outcome requires reconciliation before sending again, to avoid duplicates.

If a customer objects to further invitations, respect that preference across future contact. See customer data and privacy.
